I submitted this earlier, and I forgot to resubmit this when I came back.
Reference: Ross Suter (an SA climber...not sure about name though) leading on trad (traditional gear) in milner amphiteatre, cape province, south africa... if you don't understand the climber's jargon, don't worry, its enough to know that the guy is doing an impressive climb. Oil painting on canvas, +/- 1mX1m, the concept and background based on a previous pencil drawing entitles 'escape', finished in 2002...its in my gallery somewhere. There is a distinct line that dissects the climber's face in half. This was due to vandalism, for some unknown reason. This was originally an entry for a competition, but I with drew due to that. At the time when I was painting this, there was tumult in the art department, and my spiteful painting teacher managed to turn the entire 11th grade to hate me and my classmates...Loooong story.... ~jedknox was also involved. And that is another essay for you P.S. I promise to fix that hand as soon as I get the chance (the painting is in south africa...) edit: I got the name of the climber wrong, not that it matters...also, this picture was on the cover of an MCSA journal, 1992 I think... |
