this is one of the assignments:
an extract from the oddyssey, the sirens, scylla and charybdis.
'choose from those three views that kirke mentioned the most interesting one. Represent the view you have chosen in two ways: as a drawing of lines and strokes and as a picture simplified as colours.'
the left half is the drawing the treacherous rocks through which odysseus does not sail, and the right half is the 'painting' of the same landscape, just from a different view and perspective.
I have decided to take the definition of 'painting' to its limits, just because everyone will be using watercolours, and I did not feel like being boring. I used coloured paper and cut them into shapes and stuck them down. It was challenging, but I had allot of fun. I finished this at 3am on the morning of the deadline. I do think I could have made a wider band of orange so that the transmission from red to yellow would have been more gradual, but I was too tired to see that at the time. Hmmm...not sure if I like the whole thing together, I think the painting turned out nicely...but oh well...if I'm in, I'm in...if not, well, too bad.
one thing is for sure: This will stand out from the crowd!
